You don’t need to go all the way to Spain to try their famous salads. If you want to try something interesting and rich in taste, you can make these salads at your home. Some of them are super easy to make and some of them are a little bit complicated, but all of them are so tasty. These Spanish salads are going to be your new favorite ones once you try them.

1. Spanish Seafood Salad

This one is so easy to make, and it is perfect if you are in the mood for a light lunch. Salpicon de Marisco, as this salad is called, is a combination of shrimp, crab, and octopus, and it is a perfect combo for seafood lovers. If you have some friends coming over you can also serve it as a side dish, and no one will be disappointed.

2. Grilled Eggplant in Tomato Vinaigrette

Berenjena con Vinagreta de Tomate is a typical Mediterranean salad. It is super simple to make, and a perfect side dish in summer. The eggplant is grilled, so this salad is also very healthy and has a specific taste.

No one can resist the taste of grilled eggplant with garlic and basil. Other ingredients like olive oil, tomato, and vinegar make this salad even more delicious.

3.  Spanish Potato Salad

In Spain, this salad is called Ensaladilla Rusa, which means Russian salad. This salad is popular all around the world, and throughout Spain, and it is believed that it’s invented by Russian.

But the actual origins of the salad are unknown. The recipe for this salad is different in every country. Nevertheless, the Spanish version is also delicious and rich, and it’s made with tuna and homemade mayonnaise. It is perfect as a side dish or as a tapa.

4. Mixed Green Salad

Something that you can always find on the table in Spain during lunch is a green salad. The base for this Ensalada mixta, is, of course, a green salad, but it is mixed with olives, tomatoes, onions, asparagus, and even tuna. It is served on a large platter and it is shared among everyone at the table.

It’s colorful, pretty and delicious and a perfect summer salad, and you can try it with grilled meat or seafood. It’s super easy to make and if you try it, it may become your new favorite salad.

5. Cucumber Salad

Ensalada de Pepino, or simply cucumber salad, is a perfect recipe if you want something super light and refreshing, but also tasty and delicious. Also, it is a perfect last-minute salad, if you forgot to make a salad and the lunchtime is approaching. You can make it only with cucumber, some olive oil, vinegar and a pinch of salt.

But if you want to make it taste even richer add tomatoes and red onions, and you will love it. The dressing is simple but delicious, so it will be perfect for you to have some fresh bread so you can soak up all that yummy dressing.

6. Spanish Tropical Salad

And the last one, but certainly not the least one is Ensalada Tropical. This is not your typical salad, because it is made from fruits and not from vegetables. This type of salad originates from the south of Spain, from Granada and Malaga to be more precise, because the great microclimate is perfect for tropical fruits to grow there. Spanish people love to mix fruit with cheese and fish.

It may sound strange to you, but it something that you must try. If you are not a big fan of mixing sweet and savory you should then try the simple fruit salad. It’s a typical dessert in Spain, where you mix all the seasonal fruits and top them with some ice cream or whipped cream. And if there are no kids around, and you want to make this salad even more interesting you can add some rum or sparkling wine in it.
